About me
Alain Nichele – art Journey
I started drawing from a very young age being fascinated with Disney Characters and learning to draw by copying them out of comic books.
I studied and majored in graphic design in 1983 at the Johannesburg College of Art. I worked for 20 years in the advertising world working my way up to Creative Director of various major Agencies.
In 1999 I launched my own design studio specializing in Corporate Identity Design,
Three-dimensional Display Design, Interior Design (Corporate and Residential) as well as Landscape Design.
Throughout all my life I have used drawing and painting as my ‘zen’ space. My first love has always been graphite pencil but in 2018 I attended a watercolour course by Grant Wood – a very accomplished Watercolour artist in South Africa. This ignited my interest in watercolours and I have been an avid fan since.
I now paint and draw for pure pleasure pursuing my passion for graphite pencil drawing and my new found fascination with watercolours exploring how watercolour can suit my style and interpretation.
