I grew up in Siófok, on the shores of the largest Hungarian lake. I studied architecture at the TU Budapest and I really learned to draw there. My teachers József Zalakovács and István Balogh were artists themselves.

I have been seriously interested in painting ever since I sniffed into a tube of tempera from the GDR. I was about 5 years old. I never considered myself to be particularly talented, I just loved doing it and couldn't stop. Then there were tight years when I solved the gift giving problem with a painting of my own. Then I would give a picture when I had the money for a gift. The next stage was to buy better and better papers, paints and brushes.

A few years ago, an author asked me to do his book cover. This took me past the point of drawing just for myself and for love. I used to have trouble selling my paintings. Now I am happy if someone wants to look at my picture(s) on their wall.

I just wish I had enough time to paint - that's what I'm working on now, and to turn my hobby into my bread and butter profession. Luckily, I work for a quirky multinational where individuality is not tolerated or forbidden, but encouraged, so art is part of the 8am to 4pm working hours.
In short, I consider myself lucky and happy!
