Sheree Young

Nickname: Sheree
Country: Scotland - Role: Artist
FabrianoInAcquarello 2024 Artist

Sheree is an internationally recognised contemporary watercolor artist, mostly self taught, learning through experimentation. She was selected this year to exhibit at the "Higland Art Prize" Exhibition in Glasgow, and has  represented both Scotland and South Africa in FabrianoinAcquarello, Italy.

She grew up in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, lived in London for 5 years but now resides in the Highlands of Scotland.  She is a qualified professional accountant, but her true love is watercolours. She enjoys tackling any theme, but nature features prominently in her paintings.

 Artist Statement:

“Watercolours is an adventure & a joy to me.  I love the freshness of the colours, the spontaneity of the results. Through colour, my watercolours reflect what moves me. Besides the usual method of sketching then painting, I often embrace the unpredictability & magic of watercolours, pouring colour onto paper, experimenting with the fluidity, to create an array of contemporary paintings. I enjoy a variety of different themes, but find animals, oceans and flowers feature strongly in my work. Possibly as they have organic shapes, which suits the one method I often use, but mostly as those themes reflect a happy space for me. I try not to limit myself with themes, experimenting with still life, sea & landscapes, portraits, etc in order to continue to learn.”

She teaches workshops on occasion and partakes in many exhibitions. She hopes to continue on this trend.  Her works can be found in many countries in the world, including South Africa, the United Kingdom, China, USA and Australia.
