Life took over the artist and Irma Lara ended up working in a bank for some thirty-odd years, finally breaking away to find her way back to art.

She had works juried in biennale exhibits internationally and has exhibited in various group shows in the Philippines. She passed the selection process for competition and exhibition in the country's prestigious watercolor event, Kulay sa Tubig. 

She is currently a member the FabrianoInAquarello Philippines, Filipino Portrait Artists Guild, Philippine Pastel Artists, International Watercolor Society Global, Philippine Botanical Art Society, Philippine Fauna Art Society and Urban Sketchers Manila.
