Margaret Roseman

Nickname:
Country: Canada - Role: Artist

"The act of making art has been a lifelong quest.  If I am not painting, then I am dreaming of painting.  I like to interpret my subject rather than record it - thus striving for more of an impression rather than a detailed representational image.  My paintings often celebrate nature and familiar settings - the ordinary viewed at a special moment in time.  The quality of light, unique atmospheric conditions and inherent colour influence my paintings.  I like to work quickly and directly, using decisive marks.  I love colour and use it freely."

Margaret is an internationally known painter working in both acrylic and watercolour. An award-winning artist, an international juror and a highly respected instructor/art educator she has instructed at national symposiums and painting workshops in many parts of the world - Mexico, the Caribbean, France, Italy, the United States and Canada.

Margaret's work has been featured in international publications and may be found in corporate, public and private collections worldwide. She is a signature member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Society of Canadian Artists and is the Founder and Lifetime Director of the Toronto Watercolour Society.

Her achievements and contributions to the arts have been recognized with the 125th Anniversary of Canadian Confedertion Medal and an Ontario Volunteer Service Award.  Margaret is included and profiled in Canadian Who's Who.
