OLIWIA IZABELA STARCZEWSKA
Materials Engineer... and a watercolorist 🙂 Also a portrait artist and watercolor enthusiast.
By profession, I am a specialist in materials engineering, but in my free time, I trade science for much more creative activities such as drawing and watercolor painting.
To promote art in scientific circles, I occasionally conduct art workshops during events at the University of Silesia. Additionally, I give talks at the intersection of art and science.
At the end of October 2023, I created a project called "Watercolor Engineering"—combining painting and art with materials engineering and science across a broad spectrum.
The goal of the project is not only to bring together people who paint but, above all, to promote reliable knowledge and material testing—without pre-arranged paid promotions or recommending products that should not be endorsed.
Recently, I have expanded my activities to include individual watercolor lessons. Currently, I focus mainly on architecture in watercolor and the use of light in this technique. Additionally, I spend a lot of time studying human anatomy and faces, as well as exploring the effects achievable by skillfully combining watercolor paints of varying transparency and granulation. I love the detail and bold colors in watercolor the most.
I am also a fan of painting all kinds of masks with watercolors—nothing is more relaxing than working on another mask motif.
I am equally drawn to other heavier and more atmospheric themes.
