About me

ELIZABETH CAMPOS JARANTILLA

I love the title Artist after my name. It has been a childhood dream although circumstances prioritized by work and family shelved it into the background.

Fifty years later, now a widow, I have rediscovered my first love. I paint in different mediums but watercolor is my favorite. I paint almost everyday to make up for lost years. I relentlessly read books, view tutorials, do workshops to study techniques and how tos of the Masters.

I am a sentimentalist and I take inspiration from memories of my childhood days, people I knew and had an impact on me, places and even flowers I saw and played with. My favorite subject is portraiture and I discovered most people’s faces lit up when they see their face in canvas or paper.

I am glad that this gift has been given back to me even in my senior years. It has made me go over the wave of depression when my husband passed away. It makes me wake up each morning with a sense of purpose, to make my imagination soar, to struggle and fight the feeling of helplessness only artists can explain, and to feel accomplished when a work has finally been signed and deemed good. Life has never been so wonderful as now when I am painting my life away.

I believe it is never too late to do something you really love. Age is just a number to hurdle with. Enjoy it. Love it before life passes you by.
