Galina Tuisova
Galina Tuisova is a contemporary watercolour painter who since 2012 lives and works in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The artist was born in the northwestern Russian city of Syktywkar. Galina received classical art education in the country of her birth. As a child, Galina used to have a keen interest in art and therefore studied painting, drawing, and composition in the School of the Arts in her hometown. By age 17, she attended the anatomic figure drawing course and received a solid base of constructive drawing skills and visual accuracy at such a young age.
Her passion for watercolour art Galina developed in the Yaroslavl Art School which is a popular name for its exceptional academic traditions in painting and drawing. Galina got inspired by her teacher who would motivate her for consistent watercolour sketch practices that showcased nature for which she projected her towering imagination. She graduated from the Syktyvkar State University and thus qualified as a teacher of Fine Arts.
The artist gained considerable teaching experience for more than two decades thereafter teaching Fine Arts in the art schools, cultural communities and also offering private lessons. Currently, she holds a watercolour course at the Adult Education Centre in Cologne, Germany, and she often organizes exhibitions of her students’ artworks.
Describing her watercolour methods, Galina reveals: “Plein air etudes and sketches always serve as a basis for my watercolour artworks. At the same juncture, both spontaneity and improvisation in painting even upon a pre-defined idea are the key prerequisites in my work.” The intensity of impressions and feelings, as Galina explains, supported by a Plein air experience, guide the artist in finding an expressionist solution to her painting.&
