José Leal

I was born in Lisbon, and at the age of 5 I received my first box of watercolors from my father, who soon realized my taste for the arts.

I went to the António Arroio School of Decorative Arts, Belas Artes and IADE (Instituto de Design). I had the opportunity to work with great masters of advertising and design in major national and international advertising agencies, both as a copywriter and as a creative of art. But illustration and watercolor have always been my passion. Today I dedicate myself full time as a watercolor artist, illustrator and designer. As a national and international member of the IWS - International Watercolor Society, I have been privileged to be represented with watercolors in national institutions, abroad in private collections, in national and international exhibitions, in book editions, art catalogs and watercolor. My love for animals leads me to these to be the main 'reasons' for my watercolors.
