At the end of 2019 I started drawing classes at the Academy of Visual Arts in Belgium. As I was looking for colours while we started with charcoal, I followed an online watercolour class from Alex Hillkurtz. Although it was a big challenge, I was triggererd. In september 2021 I went on holiday in Umbria and looked for some activity with watercolour in the area. That is how I discovered Fabriano : I contacted Anna and took a train to discover not only a nice city but a group of passionate lovely Italian people and an overwhelming exposition of watercolour paintings. During lunch I was invited to go pleinair painting the next day in Serra San Quirico. It was such a pleasant experience!
The next year in 2022 I participated in FabrianoInAcqaurello in Bologna for the first time. I didn't know what to expect. It was truly impressive! As I met lovely artists and masters from around the world and participated in demos and workshops, I realised they were truly the top of the world of watercolour! What an honour to be there!
I also participated in the Painting Holiday afterwards and became friends with people from Finland, India, Brasil and many other countries. As I was working in an international environment for many years, I really like that aspect.
Ever since I am addicted to watercolour and I followed workshops with Franck Rollier, Yuko Nagayama, Eudes Correia, Alvaro Castagnet, Massimiliano Iocco, Roberto Andreoli, Michael Solovyev etc.
In september 2024 I went to the International Watercolour Festival /painting holiday in Armenia. Another life time experience!
In december 2024 I had to pleasure to gather with some Belgian and Italian friends to paint together at the Colosseum in Rome.
I am grateful to be part of this extraordinary community and look forward to more gatherings and improving my skills.
