Artist Profile Kath Bertrand
Kath Bertrand is a painter mainly in watercolour and acrylic, and a ceramic artist based on the Redcliffe Peninsula Queensland, Australia.
She completed a Diploma inVisual Arts with Queensland Tafe after a career as a social worker.
She has always painted in watercolour since childhood and was encouraged to paint by and create by an artistic family, particularly her grandmother.
Kath's main genre is landscape, and she explores a sense of place and connection to self from her own immediate surroundings and places she has visited. She is interested in the coastal Australian environment and the wildflowers found there.
Kath is a member of the Queensland Redcliffe Art Society and Redcliffe Pottery Group. She has been shortlisted for the Art Society Exhibition of Exscellence a number of times and was third overal in 2015. She was first in 2020 for the Members Show. She also exhibits regularly with the Redcliffe Pottery Group and has work retained by the Museum of Brisbane.
Kath continues to exhibit regulalry in group exhibitions and with other artists- Tricia Reust in 2022 and with the Moreton Bay Arts Council.
