My name is Audronius Vaidalauskas. I was born in 1960 in Radviliškis, and my creative journey began in childhood. My first steps in art were drawing cartoons for regional newspapers during my school years, and later, I became a recognized folk artist. In 1981, I was granted the status of a woodcarver in Šiauliai, and until 1992, I actively created sculptures that adorned churches and public spaces in Lithuania and beyond. Some of my most notable works include the cross with the sculpture of St. Casimir in Šiauliai Cathedral, the triple cross dedicated to Lithuania’s baptism jubilee, and the RÅ«pintojÄ—lis (Pensive Christ) sculpture in Šeduva.
Over the past two decades, I have focused on painting, which has become my latest passion and form of self-expression. I studied privately with renowned artist Gintaras Zubrys in Kaunas for several years, and now I continue my creative journey independently. My paintings are not limited to aesthetic imagery – many reflect significant social or political themes. Each piece represents not only symbolic but also metaphorical stories, inviting viewers to reflect on the paradoxes of the world, human actions, and their consequences.
My previous exhibitions, titled “Life Through the Eyes of an Artist”, aimed to portray the world through the prism of creativity. I strive for my works to provoke thought, spark discussions, and encourage viewers to see life from a different perspective.
