I am a Scottish artist currently living in Dundee. I attended Edinburgh College of Art where I gained a BA Degree in Drawing and Painting.
After leaving art college I lived in the Netherlands, Italy and London before returning to Scotland. After a trip to India and Nepal in 1989, my earlier work was influenced by trips to India and also Morocco where, inspired by the bright colours and energy of these places, I painted life in the streets and markets. I had my first solo show of paintings from India in London.
More recently I paint landscape and work in both oil and watercolour. I am endlessly inspired by the Scottish landscape, in particular the west coast, and the ever changing skies and light here. I am always trying to recreate that fleeting light in my work.
I still like to make painting trips abroad when I can and last year was in Spain, in Granada and the surrounding countryside.
I teach private groups in Scotland, Spain and Italy and also for the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London.
