About me
We are negotiating history everyday in our lives. In that sesne the past is very much the present. As a common conciousness of a people the idea of it is beautiful and alluring. The only thing is that the minute we try to capture this ,it eludes us. I like to incorporate direct refrences from art history and juxtapose them with images from my immediate surroundings like photographs of people I encounter on the streets or simple line drawings of markets or stories from mythology.I am drawn to the color palate from Indian miiature paintings. The tight rope walk of the color balance is very exciting for me.
As a watercolor artist, I like to stretch the possibilities of the medium. The opacity and the pigments texture and how it works on differnt surfaces is something I am very interested in.I try to play around with the density of the pigments from multiple washes to very opaque lines.I started with watercolor on board and am currently engaged in watercolors on paper.
