JUAN GALLEGO MARTÍNEZ
(Murcia, Spain)
Juan Gallego Martínez is a visual artist specialized in watercolor. Born in Murcia and initially trained in Barcelona, he studied at the Joso School of Comic Art, where he developed a solid foundation in drawing and graphic expression. After living in Madrid and Valencia, he experienced a decisive turning point in his artistic career under the mentorship of painter Rigoberto Montesinos, with whom he worked for more than twelve years, refining his technique and consolidating his pictorial language.
He currently lives and works in Murcia, where he has his own studio and is fully dedicated exclusively to painting as his professional activity. He is an active member of the Association of Watercolorists of the Region of Murcia (ADARM) and regularly participates in national and international watercolor festivals, exhibitions, and plein air painting competitions.

• Awarded and selected in numerous watercolor and plein air painting competitions across Spain (2020–2025), receiving multiple first, second, and third prizes, as well as accésits and honorary mentions.
• Special Watercolor Award at the Mazarrón Quick Painting Competition (Spain, 2025).
• Aquarelle Prize at the Ciudad de Guadix Quick Painting Competition (Spain, 2023).
• First Prize at the Mijello Watercolor Competition (Spain, 2020).
• Selected and awarded artist in major international watercolor festivals, including:
– Fabriano in Acquarello (Italy), as Guest Artist representing Spain.
– Aquarelle Pyrénéenne (Céret, France), Top 30 – Recognition Award for Excellence.
– Vietnam Acquarello – Colours of Culture, Top 30 Excellence Award, representing Spain.
– International exhibitions in France, Bulgaria, Italy, Vietnam, Canada, and Mexico.
• Finalist in prominent national painting awards, including the Timoteo Pérez Rubio Prize, José Arpa National Painting Competition, University of Murcia Painting Award, and the ACOR Painting Competition.
