Lehel Fuchs
He began his career as a painter, graduated from the Drawing Department of the University of Szeged, and for years participated in the work of the Mártély and Zebegény art colonies for years. After several solo exhibitions his interest has turned to film (motion picture) by making video art. Since 1988 he has been working as a film director and a director of photography, making fiction films and documentaries. His short films have won numerous awards both nationally and internationally. From 1997 to 2000, he created a cultural magazine called "Almanach" on Duna Television. He is the founder and art director of the Szellemkép magazine and publishing house (1989) and the Szellemkép foundation art school (1994). Here he has taught painting for a short time, then photography and filmmaking in the last 30 years. He has been a member of the National Association of Hungarian Journalists (MÚOSZ) since 1996 and of the Association of Hungarian Photographers since 2010. He has been a member of the Hungarian Artists' National Association (MAOE) since 2018. He has been continuously applying for competitions to enable student art projects at Szellemkép for 25 years. In 2019 he started applying for competitions for his own art projects too. Since then he has won the support of the National Cultural Fund (NKA) four times, receiving support for his photographic and painting work.
After 30 years, in 2017, he returned to painting to unite his experiences he gained in other art forms. Upon his return, he strictly painted with watercolor alongside his study sketches for 6 years.
