ARTIST PROFILE

Based in Bacolod City, Michelle Uygongco-Uy is a visual artist and illustrator, wife and a mom of 2 boys. She grew up watching her dad who is also an artist sketching and coloring. Her dad often encouraged her to sketch more and do her own projects in school.

She sketches and paints whenever she can, carving out a day or two each week. She considers this as her Me Time. She creates artwork based on stories in her mind. She hopes that when you see her artwork, you will be able to know the story behind it or you will be creating a story of your own.

Michelle won the OIL-lustrate Design Contest by Young Living Philippines. The contest was to design the next scarf and the winner will get the chance to see her art printed on the next exclusive Young Living Scarf which will be sold nationwide.

She sold her first commissioned pieces early this year. This was the sign she was waiting for. She yearns to be able to join her first group exhibit if given the chance. She looks at it as a learning process and she hopes she will be able to experience it soon. Waiting for another sign that she is indeed on the right path.

She is currently doing Art Illustrations and commissioned art pieces for her clients.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

“As the brush touches the paper, I begin my story. Colors combined are like stories weaved out of my mind. I believe that every stroke has its own story to tell.”
