About me

Lauren Guymer is an Australian visual artist living and working in Melbourne, Victoria. Lauren creates immersive landscape paintings and drawings on paper, specialising in large-scale watercolours inspired by her memories and experiences of the Australian landscape.

Born in Melbourne, Lauren grew up on a small horse property near the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. Life close to the bush and land has left a lasting impression and is a continued subject in her work. With a combined studio and En Plein Air practice, a large part of her process includes traveling and creating directly in the landscape.

Lauren has held four solo exhibitions, including her 2023 show River Rainforest at Brunswick Street Gallery, and Among the Trees in 2021 at Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery. She has been a finalist in prize shows, including the 2023 Australian Watercolour Muster Biennale (Online), 2022 Paddington Art Prize, and 2020 & 2019 SBS Landscape Prize. Lauren’s practice has been furthered by opportunities to participate in artist residency programs in Australia and overseas including Finland and Iceland. Her work is held in collections at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery and the Southern Midlands Collection (TAS). She also facilitates workshops and has curated a landscape group show, Under the Sun, in 2021 at CSC Gallery.
