Rosemary Hurley

I was born in England and emigrated to Australia in my early twenties initially to Sydney and then to Canberra. Here I worked mainly in the higher education sector whilst bringing up my family in suburbia. 
The next phase of my life involved moving to a rural property where I particularly enjoyed recording native flora by way of photography, pressing flowers and sketching. I then attended a course 'Get to Know Plants through Art'. Here my love of painting began initially in botanic art.

There followed a period of trying to loosen up my style and trying all manner of medium but always coming back to watercolour.

I have been painting for a number of years and now enjoy painting all manner of subjects but in particular studies in nature.
