About me
David Forster RSW SSA (born 1962) is an award winning artist and art tutor living in Edinburgh, Scotland. He has exhibited extensively in Britain and elsewhere, and his work is held in numerous private and public collections.
His finely wrought landscape watercolours are an exploration of the role of archetype and myth in the construction of our sense of place. Voided of people, the views depicted are otherwise close to reality. However, the juxtaposition of their elements, and the cast of light and mood through the scene, are the invention of the artist.
In this way he seeks to reach beyond to the idea of the mystic which prevails even in the mundane.
