Greetings! I am a young artist who got interested in watercolours during Covid quarantine. Art was always something I have admired, so I am studying to become better and better.
I am from Portugal and my main objective is studying and working as an animator. My biggest inspiration is my sister, she was the one who I tried so much to be like. I always tried to make my sister's likes as a part of me and art is definitly the main one, being the thing that connects me and her.
I want to show the importance of culture and entertainment to my country, where I, personally, think is rather overlooked by either its population and politicians. I would say that humanity without art would be without meaning and colour in life as, wanting or not, art will be always a part of each human being.
I mostly draw human bodies, women mainly, as I think the body of every woman is unique and beautiful. I also make animation like ilustration, since that is what I want to do in the future. Definitly, I hate having to draw perspectives, backgrounds and places. Animals are something I wish I could get better at drawing, but only time and a lot of practice will help me!
Covid quarantine was a time for me to explore new things in art, such as artstyle changes, equipment and material replacement and exploring new media. Watercolour, surprisingly, was the thing that got me most interested in. I struggled at first, but after sometime, I got used to it. I love how unpredictable it is and the fringe effect it has on paper, as I think it gives "style" to the painting and it fits with my artistic personality. Years pass and I have got even more interested in the medium!
My favourite artists are: Lucian Freud; Yernata (Emilyena) Mukhanzharova; Ethan Becker; James Baxter.
A big thank you to my art teacher, Ivone Ramos, for showing me stuff I did not know and helping me through this art journey.
I hope my art inspires you!
