Chan Seth

Chan Seth is an award winning artist, creative director, and founder of Sandscapes Dubai, an art festival in support of artists of determination. 

Energy is the foundation of our universe and human existence - it comprises and connects us all. A greater understanding of this energy not only enables us to experience the true nature of our existence, but also share it with the rest of the world. This is the premise of Seth's artistic journey. Through his paintings, he shares visualizations of prana – the cosmic life-force that binds everything in the universe. Although our true nature ultimately rests beyond the realm of form, these paintings are a means to remind us all to nurture and harness the creative spirit within, so that we may radiate love and acquire inner peace.

Seth's creative and spiritual journey has taken him around the world for inspiration, allowing him to unravel textile traditions and ceremonies that have depicted prana for centuries – Javanese Batik, Peruvian Shipibo patterns, and Tibetan Sand Mandalas. Each tradition represents this creative energy in different ways – as a pervasive energy-field in Batik, as a sonic vibration in Shipibo textiles, and as a geometric representation of the cosmos in Tibetan Mandalas.

All traditions ultimately point to the same Source of creativity and spiritual enlightenment. By selecting these ancient traditions that span the globe, it is Seth's intention to convey that prana isn’t restricted to a specific geographic, racial or cultural background. Called by different names and manifesting itself in different forms, this energy is ultimately the foundation of our shared human experience. By visualizing it, he points the connection and oneness we possess with one another and the universe.
