About me

Anna Massinissa | Professional Biography - Born in Fabriano, Italy, where she currently lives and works.

Background and Technological Innovation - A designer and consultant, Anna Massinissa has worked since 1983 in the fields of consultancy, marketing, web communication, multimedia, and publishing. In the 1990s, she taught digital illustration and publishing techniques and software, while also creating animated multimedia scenographies for theater and the web, pioneering the use of then-emerging digital technologies.

Cultural Leadership and InArte - In 2006, she founded the InArte Cultural Society with the mission of sharing artistic passion. In cooperation with prestigious institutions, she has designed and coordinated a wide range of events dedicated to contemporary art and water-based art on paper. These include the "Celebrating Paper" annual festivals (since 2007); the international conference "FabrianoInAcquarello" and the "Fabriano Watercolor Biennial Prize" (since 2010); and the "Lo Spirito e La Terra" (The Spirit and the Earth) project (since 2014).

Curatorship and Institutional Roles - As a curator, she focuses on events related to the discovery of human cultures, utilizing art to enhance the cultural identities and roots of the host locations. In 2014, she was appointed as Italy’s representative for the International Watercolor Society (IWS) and served as a member of the IWS Board Panel.
From 2014 to 2016, she was a board member of the Museum System network of the Ancona Province. In 2017, she inaugurated and curated the International Watercolor Museum, the only one of its kind in the world, providing immense global visibility to the watercolor community.

Artistic Activity - Since 2002, when she officially began her professional activity as an artist, she has participated in numerous international exhibitions as a watercolorist, modern artist, curator, and juror.

Vision: Art as an Expressive Right and Heritage Resource - She is built upon a dual vision that balances ethical principles with pragmatic sustainability:

The Vision of Relational Art: she views artistic practice as an intrinsic expressive right and privilege of every human being. This philosophy leads to a categorical rejection of competition; within her projects, hierarchy is viewed as a barrier to dialogue. In this context, the artist is not an isolated island but a node in a global network, where the value of an individual work is multiplied through technical exchange and human connection.

The Vision of Sustainability and Heritage: driven by the conviction that "Art can provide a livelihood," Anna Massinissa witness for art as a powerful cultural driver. Her vision transforms art into a tool for valorizing territorial roots and creating local identity through the artists' eyes.

Ultimately, she promotes art as a vehicle for total inclusivity and a culture of peace, a "seed of reciprocity" that transcends geographic and political frontiers.
