The realization of the talent given me and the responsibility I feel to use that gift is my motivation to paint.
Searching for subject matter that presents spiritual, compositional suspense, or strong design and emotion excites me. When I look at the clean white watercolor paper, the process of conceiving the image for the painting with the visualization of the completed painting is what keeps my brush wet.
My style is based on realism, but in most cases relies on an abstraction of composition, design, or view, along with texture and color to achieve the final result.
I paint from my personal photographs or sketches. Also, l use a limited palette which helps me to retain a signature feeling throughout my work.
The intent in my work is to express more than just a subject. The painting needs to possess a “look at me” quality. However, within that, the spirit, emotion, and design must involve the viewer in a relationship which excites and engages that individual in a visual conversation with the painting.
