Leonie is an artist/illustrator living in semi-tropical, southeast Queensland, Australia. Her art is a kaleidoscope of splashy colour, inspired by local flora and landscapes, birds and animals, her love of travel and still life subjects, especially if it's a cup of coffee or tea.
Over ten years ago she reconnected with her creativity via urban sketching and illustration. Leonie has exhibited in Australia, received awards for her illustrations, as well as illustrated a children's picture book on ADHD. Her illustrations have also featured in travel brochures for Japan and Italy. She was commissioned by American author, Dinah Miller, four years ago to design the distinctive red, white and black cover artwork for Miller's ongoing crime/mystery series with more covers to come in 2022. Her art and illustrations are included in private collections in Australia and overseas.
Leonie continues to be enchanted by the magic of watercolour and currently is exploring the application of her unique loose flowing style with mixed media artworks combining watercolour, ink, collage and textiles. Her artwork takes you beyond the essence of the subject to seek a minimalist, whimsical interpretation.
