Betty Franklin AKA Betty Bird Artist has been involved in Art Practice most of her life. Studying contemporary art and working as a Graphic Designer and in mutli media production for over 25 years. She has also participated in several successful Art shows over the years, selling many of her works.
Moving to Darwin from Melbourne in 2012 Betty’s love of Darwin has led her on many adventures. Betty is busy producing oil paintings and lino cuts often informed by her interest in Conservation values and environment and also works as a tour guide with a number of organisations including working as Sea Turtle guide with Sea Darwin, Segway Tours NT, Experience Darwin Tours and Cruise Ship Tour Guide.
A practicing visual artist Betty has worked as a professional graphic artist and designer and has also illustrated many publications including training books for educational institutions such as Victoria University and Batman Kangan TAFE and the children's book "the disappearance of the Lamb Island Drop Bears", "The Drop Bear Task Force and "Mama Drop Bear". And has also produced Contemporary Art Pieces while in residency with Art Ways Victoria.
Her current practise includes linocut printing, oil painting, watercolour painting and illustration. She has also spent time teaching adult learners the principles of painting and has started several art groups.
