Mona Frey is an Indian artist who lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Although she admired art growing up, it wasn’t until her early thirties that Mona’s casual appreciation turned into absolute fascination, and she could no longer suppress the desire to paint.
Mona soon realised that she had found her calling in painting and to get better, she enrolled in the Art Association of Harrisburg in Pennsylvania, US to study art and began attending art workshops. Watercolor and Gouache became her preferred mediums of painting.
Besides art, Mona’s other passion is travelling. Being an avid traveler - Mona has explored 37 countries and has lived in 4 countries- Mona loves meeting new people and immersing herself in different cultures. Painting, specifically painting portraits, therefore, is the perfect match of her two passions: painting and travel.
Mona wants to convey the message of unity with her portraits. She believes that though our background, country and culture might be different, we are one at the core, and should, therefore, live in peace and harmony.
Mona served on the board of Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and was the representative for International Watercolor Society for Pennsylvania from October 2020 until September 2021 while she was living in the US.
Mona moved to Amsterdam, The Netherlands in September 2021 with her husband.
She has exhibited in the US, France, Japan and Russia and has won awards for her portraits in Watercolorium International Watercolor Exhibition, Russia.
