Max Rojas
Born in 1946 near Cartasgo, Costa Rica in a small agricultural community.
Began his formal studies painting in 1965, entering the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Univeristy of Costa Rica.
Impressionism is a notable feature in Rojas' paintings, although the subject matter is evident. His abstract paintings stand out as being conscious of space, surface and color. The images are always vigous, energy-charged renditions of his beautiful country.
The viewer is able to feel the humidity of the swollen clouds, the crispness of the first stream of light after the storm breaks and see the swirling hues as if caught in Nature's phenonmena.
Rojaqs has the unique ability to become totally overwhelmed by his environment. Thus type of personal involvement produces art full of activity be it conceptual of physical.
One of Costa Rica's established watercolorists, Max Rojas has works in an impressive number of collections throughout thye world.
