Jelena is a self-taught artist and loving every minute of it. She is taking every opportunity to improve herself, and to embrace imperfection by improving her skills through various art instructions and workshops.
Although she loves acrylics and other forms of art, she is particularly drawn to watercolour because of the versatility that allows her to pick up the brush and paint wherever. The movement of water and an unexpected results of washes on paper gave her a great excitement and satisfaction.
Born in Belgrade, Serbia, through her childhood and teenage travels, she found herself inspired to paint and draw the world around her. When she moved to the beautiful city of Vancouver, Canada with her family, where, living near the ocean, surrounded by scenic views on all sides, she was able to indulge her passions and start capturing the beauty around her.
Not surprisingly, you'll find many of her paintings are inspired by nature and places she's been, that have left a lasting impression on her.
She loves traveling and observing nature, different cultures and people, and when inspiration strikes, she picks up the brushes and get her hands messy!
Most recently her inspiration comes from Mediterranean old towns, old houses and their doors and windows.
Aside from painting, you can find her working on her other passion projects: watercolour printed cards, handmade cards, crafts and decor.
She is an active member of West Vancouver Community Arts Council.
