Becoming a Watercolor artist was not something I expected. It was my dear friend and mentor professional artpainter Fred Breebaart who advised me to try it. I was sceptic and therefore surprised when falling in love with this challenging medium. Pigments diluted in water wanting to go their own way. This was in 2008 after finishing a more than 30 years professional career in the odor industry being a specialist in human smelling perception. It took me some years to find out what my favorite techniques are, which color pallet and preferred subjects to paint. A never ending interesting learning curve. I tend to create somewhat uncomfortable scenes without becoming too dramatic and often with a touch of humor. My Muse the Sphynx cat plays an important part in this. She seems to trigger ambivalent feelings. An other underlying aspect in my paintings is the love for natural decay. Everything ends...sooner or later.
