I am Youngae Shim (kocopainter), a South Korea-based watercolourist who paints the invisible threads connecting all living things. From the silent, reciprocal breath shared between humans and trees to the bonds that connect one generation to the next, my brush seeks to capture the resonance of existence.
Recently, I have been taking to the streets as an urban sketcher, looking closely at the small, often overlooked scenes of everyday life. A weathered wall, a quiet alley, a tree touched by light, or a fleeting gesture of a passerby can reveal a moment of connection. Through spontaneous lines and the fluid flow of watercolour, I transform these ordinary encounters into poetic.
