My name is Carmen López de la Nieta, and I am a self-taught watercolor landscape artist. I draw inspiration from the rural landscape of the village where I live, Daimiel. I often paint the Tablas de Daimiel National Park, a wetland with great diversity of flora and fauna.
I strongly identify with the land and with nature.
I began painting in oils, but when I discovered watercolor, I was fascinated by it. For the past six years, watercolor has been my main medium. I have taken several watercolor courses and have participated in various exhibitions. For me, painting is almost a necessity, a form of therapy, a way to pause.
This technique requires me to cultivate patience; it relaxes me and allows me, once I am fully focused, to forget everything around me.
