Violaine ABBATUCCI was born, in Normandy (France) in 1966. She spent her childhood in a family of artists, surrounded by a mother potter-ceramist, a father engineer, guitarist and pianist and a grandfather watercolorist. A cultural background that will awaken her artistic sensibility and will be the springboard to learn, self-taught, the techniques of drawing and watercolor.
Since 2009, Violaine has taken part in national and international watercolor shows, various festivals of travel sketchbooks and exhibits in galleries (Milan, Paris, Toulouse). Encouraged by success, she has been fully and professionally engaged in her watercolor and sketchbook practice since 2012.
Violaine likes to paint in her studio as much as outside since her sketchbooks never leave her. During the workshops she leads in France, Morocco and Europe, she shares and teaches the techniques of watercolor in the wet and the art of building "in situ" very personal travel sketchbooks.
" I arrived in Nice in 1987. I was quickly attracted by the warmth of ochres and the play of shadows on the typical Italian architecture. That’s how the color came into my sketchbooks. Today, I travel around Europe where I like to paint urban scenes as much as I like indoor atmosphere, provided that light and emotion are present and obvious.
Over time, I sharpened my graphic technique to give authenticity to my artistic works , the essential for me is to be as close as possible to the emotions felt on the spot".
