About me
My name is Roberta Carollo, and I am a self-taught watercolor artist who began studying this medium in 2022. It was not just the beginning of an artistic path but a true life change: choosing watercolor meant giving myself permission to follow what I genuinely desired, taking on the risk and responsibility of a new beginning. To me, watercolor is the perfect metaphor for courage; every blank sheet and every brushstroke demands a decision, an acceptance of unpredictability, and the willingness to transform uncertainty into possibility.
Along this journey, the greatest value is not only the continuous study of a medium that is endlessly surprising, but also the encounters with people. Watercolor has led me into a wide, generous, and welcoming community of artists and enthusiasts who share dedication, curiosity, and mutual support. Each conversation, exchange, and encouragement has made this path deeply human as well as artistic.
My work has received international recognition that has strengthened my artistic direction and commitment:
– winner among the Top 200 artists who will exhibit at the International Watercolor Masters 2026;
– selected for the second phase of the 2025 Spring Malaysia International Online Juried Art Competition – “Figures & Faces”, among 243 works chosen from 1023 submissions across 59 countries;
– awarded 3rd place at the 2024 Let’s Rock Contest (Rockwell).
I experience watercolor as an ongoing conversation with my most authentic self. It is a medium that allows no hiding: water reveals, light clarifies, mistakes suggest new paths, and transparency lets truth emerge. In this delicate yet powerful balance, my artistic expression takes shape.
