About me

RODRIGO CHÁVEZ SALAZAR
Mexican watercolor artist, b. 1984, Mexico City. Lives and works in Morelos, Mexico.

Trained in architecture, Rodrigo Chávez Salazar has developed a sustained watercolor practice since 2007, exhibiting in Mexico, France, Brazil, and Italy. His work is held in private and institutional collections. He is a member of the "Sociedad Mexicana de Acuarelistas".

His practice explores landscape: urban, architectural, and territorial, as a space of memory and identity. Working with transparency, controlled washes, and the white of the paper as active elements, he builds images that seek not literal representation but the symbolic and historical weight of a place. He considers watercolor a rigorous contemporary language capable of holding past and present simultaneously.
