About me
Svetlana is a watercolour artist based in West Sussex, England. Her practice is rooted in close observation and a long-standing engagement with painting, shaped early by family influences and later re-embraced after a career in science and business.
Her work is inspired by English nature and familiar places, with a particular focus on moments of quiet presence. She is drawn to flowers, trees, landscapes and architectural details in which fragility and resilience coexist, and where atmosphere and meaning emerge through limitation, understatement and careful observation.
Watercolour is her favourite medium. Its transparency and fluidity allow her to balance precision with openness, using controlled washes and subtle shifts in tone to suggest light, air and transience. Rather than describing a scene, her paintings aim to hold a moment, inviting the viewer into a space of stillness and attentive looking.
She is a member of the Chichester Art Society and regularly participates in local exhibitions and art events.
