About me
Ideas and themes that motivate me to create are everyday subjects most people might take for granted and not see the true beauty that surrounds us. My choice of subjects is a bit eclectic, while I enjoy the challenge of collecting and arraigning still life setups. I also love to travel (especially throughout Michigan), taking photographs of the scenery, and then painting from those photos. It’s important that my work is done from my original ideas and images. In all my work my goal is to go deeper than what one sees in a photo. Rather than replicating a photo I try to portray the feeling I felt when I first saw the scenery or subject. My thought is that viewing art should be a positive experience that draws people in to see things in a new way. My painting technique is a traditional watercolor technique of applying many glazes one over the other to produce a luminosity that only watercolor can achieve.
