Ricardo Sanchez Corona is an indigenous artist who grew up working with his parents and brothers in the chinampas (Aztec agricultural islands) of Xochimilco, south of Mexico City. From an early age, he observed and appreciated the small details and colors of life around him. In the rare moments of free time from farming and school responsibilities, he would draw and paint life as he saw it. He earned the opportunity to study architecture at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico). He went to university and worked for 6 years as a draftsman and assistant for an architectural firm in West Mexico City.
Since 2020, he has traveled throughout Mexico and has successfully combined his passion for watercolor with his skills of architecture and his love of the Mexican cultures and traditions. He has had many solo and joint exhibitions. His work has been displayed in the National Watercolor Museum of Mexico.
Ricardo lives with his partner near Guadalajara Mexico and continues to develop his passion and skills for watercolors. He teaches classes for all ages and skill levels. Every October, he releases his annual “Dia De Los Muertos” collection, and he participates in Art Fairs and competitions throughout Mexico.
