Gerard is a self-taught artist and has been painting watercolors for over 40 years.

He is specialized in painting birds and other animals which he paints in a loose colorful way, but he also paints other themes in the same loose way.

He gives many workshops in Europe he has his own watercolor instruction video also various articles have been published in magazines and books and is a teacher at the watercolor academy

Since 2015 Gerard has been a committee member of the Dutch Branch of the International Watercolor Society (IWS) - a non-profit organization devoted to promote watercolor- and has participated in many collective events that enabled him to share his works all around the world.
