Nickname: oili
Country: Finland - Role: Artist

Painting with watercolors is always an adventure for me. Water, color, and white paper are challenging, surprise-inducing, and demanding, although still pleasant companions on my painting journeys. I especially like wintery sceneries. I can see colors in them but also peace. There are exciting things to be painted around you if you just choose to see them.

I have studied painting with watercolors on the courses of The Finnish Watercolor Society. I’ve also studied landscape art in Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK), and I have also taken a single course of watercolor painting from the University of Lapland’s Open University course offering. I keep studying because I want to challenge and improve myself. My paintings have been part of exhibitions in Satakunta county and in Helsinki too. I belong to a watercolor painting group called aQARTtetti in my hometown of Pori. aQARTtetti organizes different kinds of watercolor painting events. We as a group want to share the joy of watercolor painting with people. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 I made a children’s book called Kanisaari (The Rabbit Island). The book talks about my love towards nature and about a little rabbit on an island on the Baltic Sea.

Before starting my new life as a watercolor painter, I was a biology teacher. I belong to different groups such as The Finnish Watercolor Society, Harjavalta art society, aQARTtetti painting group, and an art association in Pori which aims at promoting and supporting local artists.
