Irina Shagidulina

Nickname: Irina Shagidulina
Country: Finland - Role: Artist

I am Irina Shagidulina – a visual artist, art teacher, and ceramicist.

I was born and raised in the Ural region of Russia, where I graduated from an art school and an art university, and worked as an interior and furniture designer. I took a break from watercolor painting in 2020, but over the past two years, I have completed several online courses. From 2020 to 2024, I participated in exhibitions in Helsinki, Oulu, Kuusamo, Kuhmo, Kajaani, Sotkamo. Currently, I live in Lahti with my family, and I am a member of Kajaanin Kuvataiteilijat, the Association of Finnish Artists, and the Finnish Watercolor Society.

My passion lies in nature and the beauty created by human hands. Color, light, space, textures. When I find a subject that resonates with me, I want to delve deeper into it. I aim to create a space that captivates the viewer while they immerse themselves in the artwork.

As soon as I notice that an object or phenomenon evokes strong emotions within me, I want to capture that feeling, discarding everything unnecessary and secondary. I strive to leave only the spark and what is essential.

My goal is to make the image as light as possible, preserving the transparency and fluidity of color. This is why watercolor is my favorite medium.
