For me, an image or thought has to roll around in my head for some time, letting me imagine and work through the elements of the painting so when I pick up my brushes the pigments flow freely and loosely.
Watercolour particularly for me emboldens the joy and fun of watching the chemistry of the pigments and water as they mix on the paper - following the path of my brushes and imagination - so perhaps I am more of an allegorical painter - wanting to share an emotion or idea rather, necessarily a landscape.
My Work for FabrianoInAcquarello - Italy 2024 is my first foray into discovering the 'colours' and 'shapes' of the Kimberley Region in Western Australia.
We will be taking our 'Remote and Rural Painting' trip for our Australian Watercolour Muster - here in August 2024. The Kimberley Region is home to a unique 'Blue' Waterlily, this new species has recently been discovered in the region.....and the water birds - with their broad feet love these as their platform as they source their fish and bugs from the Lagoons ........walking on the water!
