Tanay kumar

Nickname: Tanz
Country: India - Role: Artist

Tanay comes from a small town of Jamshedpur, better known as the steel city or Tatanagar. His
growing years were pretty much absorbed in a typical middle class values with a strong focus towards
building a career in engineering or medicine.
Unlike most of his contemporaries in the formative years he took up architecture in his undergrad
studies which he thinks were the stepping stones for entering into the world of art, design and
aesthetics. Post his stint as an architect which lasted for precisely a year he went on to pursue
communication design from IDC(Industrial Design Centre), IIT Bombay where he graduated as a gold
medallist in his class.
While being in the race of being successful in his career in design, he very early got into his
entrepreneurial journey. His ideas of pursuing design was different which probably led on him creating
one of the largest design studio in India with more than 120 designers working under one roof. In
2016 his company was acquired by Dentsu International, a global advertising giant from Japan and
was valued at 40 Million Dollars..
While his entrepreneurial journey was laced with accolades and always was embedded within the
creativity bucket he believed he was being constricted by the corporate ladder that existed around
him. He wanted to spend his time to connecting back to his roots as a designer or a creator. He
brought back art into his life and since then has been thoroughly involved into capturing the world
around him in his own unique way.
Architecture always fascinated him, with all its history and all the depth it brings along with its
presence in space and time thrilled him. The romance of being able to capture a moment on the
canvas was unmatched for him. Watercolour is his medium of expression and he thinks the medium
has chosen him.
